ANDREA HELMER, DNP, NP-C
Doctor of Nursing Practice
Andrea is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with a passion for practicing rural medicine. She received her Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, KY. She and her husband spent time in Texas, Oregon, and Montana before falling in love with Alaska (Seward in particular) during a visit in 2019. She says Seward has all the things important to them: community, nature, mountains, and ocean.
Andrea enjoys practicing primary care because it allows her to focus on each patient holistically - mind, body, and spirit. She gravitates to rural settings where people have to be independent and the community comes together to make things work. The challenge of meeting patient needs and coordinating their care gives her motivation. In her off time, Andrea enjoys hiking, hunting, fishing, berry picking, and spending time on the ocean.
