Dr. Roscoe (Ross) Van Camp came to Seward Community Health Center in March 2015 after a long career in military and family medicine. He practiced medicine in rural Alaska for 15 years, and was in the Army Reserve for 10 years before starting active duty in the Air Force in 1997. Dr. Van Camp’s extensive military career took him to bases in United States, Guam, Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Korea. He also commanded a humanitarian operation in Bolivia. He was initially assigned to Eielson Air Force Base as the Chief of Aerospace Medicine in 2010 and assumed command of the Aerospace Medicine Squadron at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson (JBER) in 2013, where he served until his retirement in January 2015. Dr. Van Camp now lives in Seward with his wife, where he enjoys experiencing the community as an active cyclist, kayaker, and general outdoor enthusiast.
